An Artist’s Canvas Ready for Paint

Nathan Olean Painting (617-894-2991) came in today and did a stellar job priming the walls and painting the new ceilings. The room has the feel of an artist’s canvas waiting for paint.  It’s smooth and uniform, taking the space to the next step after John’s work with the plaster.

The team consisted of Nate, Steve and Kevin.  Nate has an interesting take on seeing the ordinary as art.  He studied Fine Arts at Massachusetts College of Art and Design and he has been doing quite a bit of restorative work.  He started shooting photos of wood and paint in decay as he begins a project or if something catches his eye, bringing one final respectful nod to the work of an artisan from days gone by.  It’s pretty cool when you think about all the “Nates” of prior years and their work in beautifying amazing architecture.  Long gone, perhaps, yet their handiwork is now left to the careful craft of a restorative artist…but I digressssssssss…..

Today it was more about ceilings and walls!  Appliances should be here by 3:30 and Wayne starts placing cabinets tomorrow.  I’m finalizing the color for my new front door and having a difficult time.  Nate suggested Sikkens Door & Window as a better product than what I had been considering.  Adlers Design Center & Hardware stained a piece of my mahogany with two color samples.  They also suggested that I stop by St. Stephen’s Church to see the Sikkens product on a carved door.  Another task for Deb’s To Dos.
